Overview
Renault has been looking to come up with products that strike a chord with Indian customers, especially the high-volume segment and so far it has come up with a couple of viable offerings one of which is Lodgy. Considering that India has large joint families, the idea of a large vehicle fits the bill. The large seven-eight seater vehicles have been gaining momentum in India as they offer enough space letting the entire family travel together. Renault has equipped Lodgy well with a string of comfort goodies along with renowned safety features. The MPV is available in total 10 model trims to choose from. Renault Lodgy is available in 5 different colours - Slate Grey, Pearl White, Royal Orchid , Moonlight Silver and Fiery Red.
Exterior
Renault Lodgy has a boxy body structure that makes it look massive and is endowed with some stunning styling features which make it unique. It comes with a distinctly designed massive front grille with a huge dollop of chrome garnish for an aggressive front face. The front-end highlights detailed grille with lots of chrome and a Renault badge, large headlamps, daytime running lights, integrated fog lamps, black bumper and some chrome accents. The MPV has the longest wheelbase in its segment, which is quite evident from the side profile. It gets dual tone bumpers, round shaped fog lamps with chrome surrounds, a petite bonnet, boxy but stylish side profile with character, ski racks, body colored ORVMs and door handles, and attractive alloy wheels while the lower variants get steel wheels. The vehicle's rear gets eye-catching and unique arrow shaped tail lights, a humongous tailgate which is made attractive despite its size with a chrome decor and embossed 'Lodgy' logo.
Interior
Renault Lodgy offers a very roomy and comfortable cabin. The second and third rows offer ample space and head and legroom. It gets height adjustable driver's seat, while the 7-seater offers captain seats in its second row along with armrests. However, the 7-seater configuration is available only in the RxZ model trim. The Indian-spec model is offered with dual front airbags. It also features engine immobilizer, cruise control with a speed limiter, three-point ELR seat belts and various other safety features. The top end model of this MPV offers two-tone premium fabric upholstery along with leather inserts and metallic accents for a very classy appeal. It features 3 spoke steering wheels with metal accents and many utility features including cup and bottle holders, sun visors, storage unit, floor carpeting, power sockets and more.
Performance
The MPV shares its engine with Renault Duster, as it features the same 1.5 litre, K9K diesel engine. The engine is available in two states of tunes - 85 PS (84 BHP) and 110 PS (108.5 BHP). The 108.5 BHP variant is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the 84 BHP version comes with a 5-speed transmission.
The MPV offers good performance and a comfortable drive experience. It also offers good handling despite its massive size. High performance meets the highest safety standards. It uses McPherson strut at the front and H-Type Torsion beam with anti-roll bar at the rear. The 110 BHP engine is the most powerful unit in the segment, outperforming competitors. The ARAI efficiency of the 85 BHP model is rated at 21.04 kmpl and 110 BHP model claims 19.98 kmpl.
Safety and Security
Renault Lodgy is fitted with ventilated disc brakes at front and drum brakes at the rear. The MPV is laden with many safety features including dual airbags, ABS, EBD, side impact protection beams, rear parking sensors, door ajar warning, driver's seatbelt reminder, impact sensing automatic door unlock, rear defogger and more. Renault has equipped Lodgy well with a string of comfort goodies along with eminent safety features.
