Overview
Renault Captur is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The SUV gets a host of changes to keep it new yet pocket friendly as compared to the European version. The SUV shares its underpinnings with the Duster SUV, both models being based on the MO platform. It is available in both petrol and diesel engine variants, where a total of 10 variants are on sale - six in diesel and four for petrol. Renault Captur is accessible in 12 different colours - Pearl White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver, Cayenne Orange, Mahogany Brown, Cayenne Orange with Mystery Black, Mahogany Brown with Mystery Black, Pearl White with Mystery Black, Pearl White with Planet Grey, Mahogany Brown with Planet Grey, Cayenne Orange with Marble Ivory and Mahogany Brown with Marble Ivory.
Exterior
Renault Captur is 4329 mm in length, 1813 mm in width, and 1619 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2673 mm, same as Duster. Captur has a ground clearance of 210 mm. In these proportions, the SUV looks up market and stylish with Renault family front grille, dual-tone alloys, and all-LED headlights and tail lamps. On the front, Captur boasts a small yet muscular bonnet diving down at the front between well-designed chrome grille and good-looking headlight assembly. On its side profile, the 17-inch 'crystal cut' wheels look simply superb. The rear has a clean and refreshing design, which goes very well with trendiness of Renault Captur.
Interior
Renault Captur interior uses soft-touch plastics along with leather seats that lend it a premium touch. Interior comes equipped with a host of features like Auto AC and Smart Access Card. The dashboard layout and design looks fresh, decent yet dynamic with butterfly-shaped instrument cluster, large digital speedometer with tachometer and a fuel gauge. The top-end variant of Renault Captur features a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth, aux-in and USB connectivity options. It also supports voice command, navigation and acts as a rear camera display, when needed. However, it misses Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other features on the inside include steering mounted controls, cruise control, electrically operated wing mirrors and automatic climate control, which is standard across all variants. It offers good under-thigh support, knee room, back support and shoulder room, which makes Captur a perfect car for long journeys.
Performance
The petrol variant of Renault Captur gets 1.5 litre (1498cc) H4K petrol engine that churns 104.55 BHP of maximum power at 5600 rpm and 142 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. For diesel variant, Renault has used the 1.5 litre (1461cc) dCi diesel engine that produces 108.4 BHP of maximum power and 240 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. It gets six-speed manual gearbox.
Captur's chassis is quite stiff and providing great handling in all conditions is its forte. It can effortlessly cruise at triple digit speeds and feel extremely steady. On highways, the car will offer you a sense of power and is very smooth to handle and control on top speeds. It won't let you feel low and underpowered when you throttle on the roads. It handles all the corners, twists and turns without any fuss.
Safety and Security
The list of safety features include ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, central locking, driver & passenger airbags, crash sensors, rear seat belts, seat belt warning, power door lock, child safety locks, side & front impact beams, passenger side rear view mirror, rear camera, centrally mounted fuel tank, engine immobilizer, automatic headlamps, follow me home headlamps and ISOFIX child seat. Captur offers disk brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Passive safety features includes front airbags, side airbags and seatbelts which prevent passenger injury in case of a mishap.
