Toyota Etios Petrol
Overview
Toyota India has given comprehensive cosmetic upgrade to Etios sedan. Changes made to the sedan are largely cosmetic and mechanical updates have also been made for enhanced performance and better ride quality. Some new elements like V-shaped grille, reworked bumper and larger air-intakes have transformed the look from front. Minimal changes are made to the sides and rear end gets redesigned tail lamps, new bumper and chrome accents. Toyota Etios is available in 4 petrol and 4 diesel variants. Inside, it is radically the same with only a couple of additions including new upholstery and a centre armrest. Toyota Etios is accessible in 7 different colours - Celestial Black, Classic Grey, Harmony Beige, New Pearl White, Silver Mica Metallic, Vermilion Red and White.
Exterior
Changes are made to the front profile with a new V-shaped grille featuring black inserts and chrome accent. Redesigned bumper in front sports larger air-intakes and new housing for fog lamps. On the sides, it remains unchanged with insignificant changes. The rear end sports minimal tweaks with subtly revised tail lamps and new bumper. Features such as electrically retractable ORVMs and re-designed alloy wheels are standard on top-spec variants.
Interior
The centrally mounted instrument cluster will get digital treatment for the tachometer along with electrically operated wing mirrors and steering mounted audio controls. The 2-DIN music system offers a touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity for telephony and music. It gets rear AC vents, height adjustable driver seat for the higher variants and power steering except for the base model. The fuel lid and tailgate are remote-operated. The ORVMs can be adjusted internally using an electronic lever. Additionally, there are seven bottle holders, assist grip with coat hook along with front and rear door pockets. There are sun visors on the driver's and co-passenger side.
Performance
Toyota Etios will continue with its reliable 1.5 litre petrol engine option and the 1.4 litre diesel mill. The 1.4 litre diesel engine develops 67 BHP of power at 3800 rpm and 170 Nm of torque while the 1.5 litre petrol is much more powerful at 88 BHP power and 132 Nm torque while mated to a five speed manual gearbox that powers the front wheels.
Toyota Platinum Etios is endowed with a MacPherson Strut type suspension system for the front axle. Its rear axle has torsion beam type suspension. The turning radius of Toyota Etios is 4.9 m. The 1364 cc diesel powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 21 kmpl in city and 23 kmpl on highways, while the petrol variant offers a mileage of 14 kmpl on urban roads and 16 kmpl on highways, respectively. Etios offers a minimum ground clearance of 170 mm.
Safety and Security
Braking power is produced by disc units at front and drum brakes at rear. The suspension has been re-tuned for a better composure while on the go. Scoring a high 4 star rating in the NCAP test, Etios is a reliable car when it comes to safety housing a number of safety features. Etios comes loaded with safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), SRS airbags, Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), engine immobilizer, keyless entry, driver seatbelt warning and door ajar warning.
