Volkswagen Ameo Petrol

Volkswagen Ameo is the first sub-compact sedan for Indian market offering a bunch of first class features. In terms of comfort, the front seats are as usual perfect even for long drives. Ameo is currently available with both petrol and diesel engine. The sedan derives power from 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Starting from cruise control to automatic rain-sensing wipers, Volkswagen Ameo brings some features that are introduced for the first time in this segment. Power windows with one touch operation, iPod connectivity, Voice Command and single-fold rear seat backrest are other eye-catching features of Volkswagen Ameo. The sedan is available in 5 different colours - Candy White, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel, Blue Silk and Toffee Brown.

Volkswagen Ameo gets body-coloured bumpers and ORVMs, while top-end Highline variant gets alloy wheels. Highline also features a rear defogger and front fog lamps for better driving even in extreme conditions. All the variants get halogen headlamps in black finish. Most of the changes are made to rear featuring new tail lamps and bumper. A subtle character line runs from headlamps right up to the tail lamps with add-ons like horizontal fog lamps and reworked bumper.

Volkswagen Ameo interiors as well are pretty impressive with Highline featuring a leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome accents. The car also gets piano black finish, leather- wrap gear knob and brushed Aluminium finish on the front centre console. The cabin gets dual tone colour scheme and a square-shaped centre console with AC vents sitting at the top and a touch screen placed beneath it. Volkswagen has given prime significance to storage space offering multiple storage points inside cabin. Ameo packs in plethora of features including some of the segment first goodies. The dashboard across all variants is made up of high-quality scratch resistant material and highlight of cabin is definitely the comfort level that seats offer even during long drives.

Volkswagen Ameo specifications include a 1.2-litre MPI engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This is available in all the three variants - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The diesel powertrain is the 1.5 litre TDI engine that is also mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The third offering of new Volkswagen Ameo is a 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine mated to 7-speed DSG transmission. This automatic transmission is featured only in Comfortline and Highline variants. The engines are quite smooth and have the punch that you expect from a German carmaker. 

Volkswagen Ameo offers a comfortable drive even in tough driving conditions. The ABS is definitely a benefit when it comes to handling of the car. The power steering with tilt and telescopic features further make things easier for driver. Powered by 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine, Ameo is claimed to return impressive fuel economy of 17.83kmpl.

Volkswagen Ameo features ABS as standard across all variants along with dual front airbags. The Hill Hold Control and front fog lamps are featured in Comfortline and Highline variants, whereas the rear fog lamps are available across all Volkswagen Ameo variants. The top-end variant, Highline, also features rear defogger, front fog lamps with static cornering lights and an auto-dimming interior rear view mirror. The front wheels have disc brakes to give the car that extra power so that one can handle it well even in tough situations with ease.
