Overview
Mahindra Verito comes loaded with features and more practicality. Mahindra offers Verito with diesel fuel option. The sedan has witnessed several changes over the years in a bid to improve in terms of looks to sustain cut-throat competition in the segment. Rugged looks, spacious cabin and a reliable diesel engine make Verito a dependable sedan. Verito was initially available in petrol and diesel fuel options, but currently it is available in 1.5 litre, four cylinder diesel engine good for 64 BHP and 160 Nm. There is ample space for occupants to be seated comfortably inside. Renewed styling, new dashboard and additional features add more comfort to the interior. Mahindra presently offers this sedan in a blend of 7 colours which includes - Dolphin Grey, Rocky Beige, Mist Silver, Java Brown, Diamond White, Torredar Red and Fiery Black.
Exterior
The boxy contours and rugged styling compliment the masculine character of the sedan. Chrome finished grille sits in front and the large headlamps are equipped on the edge of bonnet. Bumper gets large air intakes and fog lamps. Side profile is basic sporting blackened pillars and flared wheel arches. The new grille gets heavy chrome treatment and carries the signature Mahindra grin. The slight design tweaks in and around the front bumper are also giving a better stance to plain front facia. The roof rails add a distinct sportiness to the character. The side body claddings and alloys on the 14 inch rubber give the car, a premium feel. The sides ORVMs are now fitted onto the door with a plastic cladding unlike the old exposed metal mounting. The broad wheelbase of the car permits a spacious airy cabin along with a boot space of 510 litres.
Interior
The cabin is roomy with comfortable space for passengers in front and rear. The dual tone beige and black interior colour scheme looks up market. Rear seat offers good thigh support and leg space. There are multiple storage points inside and ample cargo space for storing luggage. The interior have been embellished with refined features highlighted by dual toned dashboard and a brilliantly arranged instrument panel. The car carries capacity to comfortably accommodate five adults without making anyone feel claustrophobic. The rear seat is large and wide and it offers ample comfort along with head restraints. The central console is presented with different offerings such as black paint or cubicle painting depending over the version. The instrument panel is well organized along with a large glove box that can store lots of things.
There are several other storage cubicles such as parcel shelf, door pockets, large boot space of 510 litres, mobile holder, bottle holder and a few other interesting holes where you may comfortably place your small belongings. Along with these, the car features ample number of comfort aspects like an integrated CD player, USB port, Aux-in port, FM Radio, electronic ORVMs, in-cabin theatre dimming lights, bright light in boot space, power steering, power windows, passenger side vanity mirror, central door lock and gear knob with solver finish.
Performance
The company has incorporated this sedan with a 1.5 litre, CRDi mill with four cylinders and a total of eight valves that can displace 1461cc. It is based on a single overhead valve configuration. With a common rail direct injection fuel supply system, it delivers good mileage of 21.03 kmpl. It has the capacity to generate a maximum power of 65 BHP at 4000 rpm and produces a maximum torque output of 160 Nm at 2000 rpm. The efficient torque distribution to its front wheels is taken care of its five speed manual transmission gear box. It can touch a top speed in the range of 145 to 150 Kmph and can breach the 100 kmph mark in about 16 to 17 seconds from zero.
Safety and Security
Mahindra Verito is loaded with a sound braking system that plays an important role in bringing down car's speed whenever required. The front end braking is taken care by disc type brakes while rear end is controlled by drum type. The safety aspect of the process is taken care by Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) system that helps avoiding car sliding by distributing the brake force equally between all four tyres. Other measures that Mahindra has added to ensure safety of car's passengers are central lock, remote door lock, keyless entry, rear & side impact beams, halogen headlights, collapsible steering column, electrical child lock for rear windows, adjustable front and rear seat head restraint, prismatic day/night rear view mirror and several others.
