Nissan, Datsun prices to go up by 2 percent

Nissan has announced that it will boost prices of its new cars and SUVs by 2 percent. The hike is applicable to Datsun models as well. The enlarged prices will come into effect from 1 April, 2018.

The Datsun range of cars starts from Rs 2.49 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the redi-GO's D variant and goes till Rs 5.12 Lakh for the GO+ MPV's T(O) variant. As a result, the price rise is estimated to be in the range of Rs 4,980 to Rs 10,240. Entering Nissan range, however, starts with the Micra Active, the base XL variant of which retails for Rs 4.64 Lakh, and ends with the Terrano's XV AMT variant, which is priced at Rs 14.45 Lakh. The price premium for Nissan vehicles should then range from Rs 9,280 to Rs 19,998.

Currently, Nissan sells the Sunny, Micra and the Terrano in India whereas Datsun offers the Go, Go+ and the Redi-Go in India. Nissan has endorsed the price hike to rising input costs. Sideways from Nissan and Datsun, Tata Motors and Audi moreover announced that they will expand the costs of their cars from 1 April, 2018. This is not the first time Nissan and Datusn have increased the prices this year. Right at the start of 2018, three months ago, Nissan and Datsun had increased the prices of their cars by up to Rs 15,000 depending on the model. The reason cited was to offset the rising input costs that time as well.

Jerome Saigot, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd said, "Due to rising input costs, we will be rising the price of our Nissan and Datsun cars with effect from 1st April, 2018. We are confident that our cars will keep on offering excellent value and options to our customers."
