Ford has launched the Freestyle in India at a preliminary price of Rs 5.09 Lakh. The Figo-based cross-hatch is accessible in four trims - Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+ - with the option of petrol and a diesel engine.
From the exterior, the Freestyle gets new bumpers and stylish body bumpers that give it a sportier look. Furthermore, the sporty hatchback also gets new silver roof rails and silver skid plates for a youthful charm. For a beefier look, the vehicle acquires a high ground clearance of 190mm and sits on bigger 15-inch wheels. Step inside and you will discover a charcoal black interior with dual tone seats in sienna and black. The car additionally obtains a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is attuned with SYNC3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the hood, the Freestyle gets the current 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 99bhp of energy and 215Nm of torque. As for the petrol version, it gets the new 1.2-litre Dragon series naturally-aspirated petrol engine which generates 94bhp of power and 120Nm of torque. Compared to the older 1.2-litre engine on the Figo, the new petrol produces an additional 7bhp of power and 8Nm of torque. As of now, both the engines acquire the five-speed manual transmission as standard.
For safety, the Ford Freestyle obtains front dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. The top spec Titanium+ boasts of six airbags, anti-rollover prevention system, TCS (Traction Control System), HLA (Hill launch assist) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program). It goes up against the likes of cars from diverse segments such as the Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross, Honda WRV and even the Maruti Swift and Tata Nexon.
